Americans buy 29 billion plastic water bottles a year. Manufactuers use 17 million barrels of crude oil to make these plastic bottles. Only one in every 6 of these bottles are recycled. Water from your kitchen tap is as safe as the bottled water you buy. In fact, it may be safer, as concerns grow that chemicals from the plastic bottles may leach into the water. Water is good for you, keep drinking it. But think about drinking from the a glass at home or carrying water in refillable stainless steel water bottles.

Installing a low-flow showerhead is simple! Reduce water output by as much as 40-50 percent. Save up to 1 gallon of water per minute and $90 annually on your water bill.
Energy Efficient Washing Machines: Go Cold
Simply heating the water to wash clothes amounts to 90% of the washing machine's power consumption. The best way to save money when you are doing the laundry is to wash clothes in cold water. When used with cold-water detergent, washing in cold water is actually better for your clothes. Oily stains that require hot water for removal can be switched from hot to warm still saving energy and doing a good job of cleaning your laundry.
